How to make a toddler take his medicine

Filed under: DThird — alpha @ 1:25 pm

I don’t really know how. In the past, I sat on top of him (Not really sit on him, kawawa naman baka di makahinga ;D), tried to squeeze his arms between my legs, then give him the medicine using a dropper or a syringe (without the needle, of course). It worked before. But now he can find his way out. He can squeeze his arms out, he can close his mouth ever so tightly and if ever I get the chance to insert the syringe into his mouth, his tongue can push it out. Hay, and I still have 5 more days wrestling with my toddler.

Went to his pedia last Saturday. It turned out that he still has asthma. So he had to take an anti-asthma medicine for 7 days. I hope he gets well soon.

Here are some pictures from last Saturday.

At the Asian Hospital canteen while waiting for our turn at the pedia’s clinic.

After the checkup, we had lunch at Sbarro in Festival Mall. And as usual, Estong was at his neatest. He would really prefer to eat on his own. He snatched the spaghetti from his dad’s plate. Mabilis ang kamay. And he preferred to eat a big piece of garlic bread instead of the smaller pieces that we cut for him.

Then, it’s Estong’s first time on the carousel.

I did a little grocery, then went home afterwards.

Daddy’s Day Out

Filed under: Celebrations, DailyTales — alpha @ 3:16 pm

Yesterday was J’s birthday so he took a leave from work.

First stop was Estong’s check up. He had minor asthma last Friday. He’s doing ok now but I wanted to bring him to his pedia because he still has minor cough. The nurse texted us that his pedia was attending a conference and a reliever would see Estong instead. I didn’t want to have him checked by a reliever, but I read the text message a little too late. We’re already on the clinic, so might as well have him checked. But I was not really confident with the reliever so I ended up not following her instructions. And decided to bring Estong again to his pedia this Saturday.

Next stop is St. James Parish inside Ayala Alabang. Most of the houses inside Ayala Alabang were so huge and so grand. Which got us dreaming of owning a house there. In a million years, I guess. But really, I do not want a big house. What I’m dreaming of is a spacious lot with a little house on the side, and a swimming pool, and half-basketball court, and a beautiful garden.

Estong tripped twice while walking around the church’s front lawn. And each time he fell, he would not touch the grass. I was just not sure if he was afraid that the grass would hurt him kasi matulis or nandidiri sya. ;D

We then had our lunch at TGI Friday’s in Alabang Town Center. Estong enjoyed the onion rings. But when he saw the celery sticks, he quickly grabbed it from his daddy and started munching on it.

Went around ATC after lunch.

Then went home and feasted on daddy’s cake (Just Red Ribbon’s ube roll.)

Estong didn’t take his afternoon nap, and instead spent the afternoon playing and walking around.

And the funniest part… Estong was so tired that he dozed off while having dinner. Poor baby.

My Easy Embutido

Filed under: Food! — alpha @ 2:35 pm

It’s fried! Because it tastes better when fried. Unfried, it tastes like meat-flavored pudding, or empanada or lasagna. Basta not embutido. Got the recipe from Working Mom magazine. It seemed that I added too many bread slices to the mixture. But the recipe asked for 10 slices, so I added 10 slices. I think the size of the bread should be specified as well. heehee Sisihin ang recipe. ;D Pero masarap, promise!

Camera Shy

Filed under: DThird — alpha @ 9:03 am

He’s not.

Estong is so used to the camera. Once he sees the camera, he is so ready to flash his pa-cute smile. Even if he is making poopoo. Yesterday I saw him making poopoo. One would not certainly miss it because it is very evident in his face that he is doing something. So I immediately grabbed the camera to record the event. And what did Estong do when he saw the camera. He made pa-cute in between his straining. heehee Sorry I can’t post the video. It’s too personal. ;D

Toddler Updates

Filed under: DThird — alpha @ 9:01 pm

Remember Estong’s shape sorter that has too many shapes that even I find it difficult to insert the shapes inside?

Photobucket

Before, I used to guide him in inserting the shapes. And more often than not, he would just put the shapes in his mouth. Last week, he was playing with it in his playpen. Alone. Then I saw him insert a shape on his own. And he giggled after he did it. I knew he felt so happy and pleased with what he did. And it made me very happy that I was able to witness that moment. I just regret that I didn’t have the camera ready. He was able to insert 2 or 3 more shapes after that. Oh, I was able to capture a video of him playing with the shape sorter. But this time he’s not inserting the shapes but throwing them out of his playpen. heehee

Estong can already drive(?) his bike on his own. Watch him here doing it while making pa-cute.

And you can watch our little worm here while getting down from the bed, again making pa-cute. ;D

.:Toddlers Love To Flirt:.
I have read in an article from Babycenter that toddlers 12 to 18 months of age enjoy trying to elicit reactions from others. This reminded me of an occasion while we were doing our grocery a few weeks back. Familiar with the Magnolia Chicken Station promo girls – the ones inviting customers to buy their chicken? Estong might have been captivated by the promo girl and her voice. Estong kept going back to the promo girl and kept waving at her. He did this three times. Hay, chickboy. :D

How to capture moments like these? Let your kid run after you, turn around, then click! Very tiring but fun. Wish I had a better camera though. Pictures were a bit dark with shadows. Nikon or Canon??? Hmm, may pambili ba ako? ;D

My Plants

Filed under: DailyTales — alpha @ 3:00 pm

Bought these plants last Sunday. Finally! We’ve been wanting to have some for the longest time.

Our used-to-be-boring front door now looks like this.

Oh well, it’s still a bit dull. We need to buy pots and add a few more plants.

At hindi pa man lumalago ang mga halaman ko, mukhang makakalbo na sila. ;D
