Estong escaped from his playpen yesterday afternoon. I was on the computer and when I turned to check on him (the playpen was just around 2 feet away from me!), there he was, out of his playpen, standing and looking at me! I didn’t hear any noise, so I assumed he didn’t fall out of the playpen. But how did he get out? I just stared at him in disbelief. I felt nervous, worried, I felt my whole body was shaking. I didn’t know what to do and what to think. Baka may mumu… {Parang twilight zone, strange, parang imposible.}
When he saw me staring at him, he just walked and got a toy. It took a few more seconds before I got to move. Then I put him back on his playpen and asked him to do it again. But he didn’t.
When his dad came home that night I told him what happened. He was shocked as well, but didn’t worry too much since Estong was doing fine. He wasn’t crying or anything. Baka may sumalo daw kay Estong, his guardian angel or his lolo (my late daddy). Mumu nga…
This morning, J was using the computer, I was still in bed (also very near the playpen), Estong was babbling with a bit of crying. He wanted to be out of the playpen. J just looked at him. Then when Estong realized that he isn’t getting what he wants, HE DID IT! He climbed out of the playpen. He lifted his right foot to the top of the playpen while both his hands were holding on to the railings (?? basta yung top pa din ng playpen), then nag-ala-gymnast sitting on top of the bar, then dire-diretso na hanggang makababa. Mahusay, it was quick, very smooth, very quiet. And VERY scary!
So tomorrow, we’re saying goodbye to his playpen (or I probably will just put it near our bathroom so he can play there while I do my thing ;D). Our bed will be dismantled as well (since mahilig din syang mag-akyat-baba sa bed). The three of us will be sleeping on the floor (with the mattress) and we’ll be putting rubber mats also.
